Which MLB team is hot right now?
The New York Yankees are feeling a lot better about themselves compared to five days ago. They’ve won four straight, including a pair over the neighboring Mets, and kicked off a 10-game road trip last night in blowout fashion with an 13-4 victory over the struggling A’s.
New York will face a familiar face Friday night in Oakland lefty JP Sears, who was traded by the Yankees earlier this month as part of the Frankie Montas deal. Sears has allowed only one earned run in his last 10 innings.
Which MLB team is cold right now?
The way the NL Central is shaping up, the Cincinnati Reds will have to do all they can to avoid finishing in the basement. They’re 1 ½ games ahead of last-place Pittsburgh after being dominated last night by Philadelphia’s Aaron Nola, who pitched a complete-game shutout with 11 strikeouts.
Cincinnati, 3-7 in its last 10 games and winless in its last four (all against the Phillies), will try to take advantage this weekend of one of few teams in MLB with a worse record — Washington.
MLB players: Who is in hot form?
The Houston Astros appear well on their way to another AL West division crown and are the favorites on paper to get to the World Series. Catching fire at the right time for the ‘Stros is 3B Alex Bregman, who has been crushing the ball for the past few weeks.
He’s on a 20-for-51 tear with 6 homers, 19 RBIs and 16 runs scored. On Friday night he’ll face Baltimore’s Kyle Bradish for the first time in his career. Bregman has 19 homers and 75 RBIs on the year.
MLB Players: Who is out of form?
If you’ve been counting on Toronto OF Teoscar Hernandez lately to boost your daily fantasy lineups, you’ve probably bailed on him or are close to it. Hernandez is a key piece in a stacked Blue Jays lineup and was nothing short of dynamite in 2021 with a breakout campaign that saw him rip 32 homers and knock in 116 runs.
He’s unlikely to finish anywhere near those numbers thanks to a few nagging injuries and a recent slump. He’s in a 9-for-52 funk with 23 strikeouts. He’ll try his luck against the Angels’ Reid Detmers tonight.
